I Now Call Myself a “Blogger”
Dec 8th, 2008 by Capsun
Well folks, I’m officially adding blogger to my list of descriptions for myself. I don’t know what it takes to be officially considered a blogger by others, but I figure having daily posts for a month and a half qualifies. As does being recognized by Alltop. But for me, the ultimate blogger cred is being added to another blogger’s blogroll. And Ian Lind has added Capsun’s Corner to his blogroll. I’m so ecstatic to be thought of so highly by one of my heroes of local journalism.
At first, I couldn’t figure out how to setup my own blogroll, but I used a little thing called Google to figure it out. It was a case of different terminology for the same thing. What I call a “blogroll”, WordPress calls “links” – mystery solved. And I was happy I didn’t have to pay for an upgrade.
With this “blogger” title, I guess I’ll have to honor my commitment to myself and to you. But, if things ever get hectic enough, I could just change my tagline from a “daily dose” to a “regular dose” of my commentary, thus relieving myself of the daily commitment.
I get teased by some of my co-workers for being “the blogger” – implying some negative connotations. You know what I’m talking about, the anonymous blogs that criticize their employer or talk about their sex lives. But I always counter this by saying I like my job, I enjoy my co-workers, and I love my employer. And unlike those anonymous blogs, I have no anonymity. I freely disclose my name, Capsun, and it’s not a common name – if you do a couple Google searches you should find everything about me on the internet (FYI, “capsun” on MySpace is not me). Finally, I publish a disclaimer on my About Capsun page that these are my opinions.
So here’s to many more blog posts by Blogger Capsun! And if you can, please take some time to visit some other PodCamp Hawaii success stories who have new blogs:
- Government 101 is written by my former co-worker Susan Jaworowski, who worked at the Legislative Reference Bureau for years and can help anyone understand government.
- On the lighter side, im Stoked. is written by my friend Dan Zelikman, who really loves to surf (and I knew that before he started his blog!).
Mahalo!

I don’t have a blog roll (because I am lazy) but you have been in my feed reader for weeks now. Just because I don’t comment on every post doesn’t mean I didn’t read them! However, since I read about 70 a day, they don’t ALL get answered — and won’t until someone decides to pay me for this! Speaking of which, I’d best go to work!
quilly: Not a problem and I know you’re a regular caller. I have wondered how I could monetize my blog, but then I also think about how we’d have to cave in somehow editorially. I’m planning to do a Top 10 blogs list, and plan to have you on there.
Stoked you’re blogging brother, because of your blog your positivity spreads! Please keep it up, I’m sure readers would love it.
