Props and Slops: December 8-14
Dec 15th, 2008 by Capsun
Reminders:
- 10 days left until Christmas – check out my gift recommendations.
- Don’t forget about the contest! Share your memories of The Real Aloha Airlines for your chance to win a $10 Starbucks gift card. Contest ends December 18th at 6 pm.
And for the Main Attraction:
Here are the top and bottom performers as I saw them this week:
HAWAII
- Props: AIG Hawaii for starting their Drivesafe Holiday Pledge effort. Thanks to Dan Zelikman for the tip!
- Honorable Mention: Honolulu Star-Bulletin for taking a stand against Mesa/go! trying to usurp the Aloha brand. And for publishing this commentary by Ann Auman.
- Slops: The torrential rain that caused so much traffic everywhere. I went to Hilo to escape the storm – and it worked!
GEEK/TECH/BLOG
- Props: My friend theseus51 for reposting a very interesting account of a teen’s story about and struggle with homelessness.
- Honorable Mention: The Kona Blog for mentioning my post on Mesa…in their own words and for being my top referrer of the week!
- Slops: Lizzy Frisinger, the girl who upon losing her virginity on a school trip sent a text message to…her father! The difference between famous and infamous is that you like being famous, but infamy is not usually a good thing.
POLITICS/GOVERNMENT
- Props: Barbra Streisand for winning a Kennedy Center Award and for being quite nice to President Bush despite her criticism of him in the past.
- Slops: Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich for trying to auction off President-Elect Barack Obama’s now-vacant U. S. Senate seat.
- DIShonorable Mention: This joker who planned an attack against President-Elect Barack Obama.
That’s it for this week. Be sure to visit next week for another edition of Props and Slops. I am planning to have Props and Slops run on Saturdays or Sundays, but due to the news of the resignation of Regent Mike Dahilig and the passing of AQ McElrath, it was preempted this past weekend and moved to today.
Mahalo!

The rain was terrible, not just on account for traffic – ruined hiking plan too!
