I’m a Winner

And not in the way a mother tells her son.  Nor in a condescending, “holier than thou” way.  Nope, this time I actually won a real contest.

Remember my friend Quilly, whom I met at PodCamp Hawaii and listed as one of my Top 10 Hawaii-Based Blogs?  One of my favorite features that I said I liked are her Punny Monday contests.  Every Monday, just past midnight, she releases her contest post.  It includes a picture and a brief clue or two.

Ever since I met her, I’ve been trying to guess correctly, to no avail (see here, here, and here).  Maybe it’s because by the time I read it at 7 or 8 in the morning, someone has already supplied the correct answer.  Or, more likely, that I’m just clueless.  I’ve even told Quilly I always try to figure it out, but I’m quite sure writing “I don’t know” as my guess could get quite boring, quite fast.

That is until this week:

So can you guess the correct answer?  After carefully reading the clues, it took me less than a minute to figure it out. Remember, I’m a political junkie, and that’s what contributed to my win. I’m so much of a political junkie that I wrote about Congress yesterday when many in the blogosphere and Twitterverse were talking about nothing but MacWorld.

Just click on the photo to go to the contest, and my correct answer.  Oh, and get your brains ready early next Monday and you could be the next Punny Monday winner.  Besides bragging rights, the winner receives a featured link on Quilly’s blog.

By the way, Quilly’s Punny Monday themed entries are what led me to start my weekly Props and Slops feature, although Props and Slops are more akin to David Shapiro’s weekly flASHback posts.

And one final note:  this contest was won fair and square. As you may recall, Quilly was one of the winners of the contest I sponsored last month.  I don’t want people to think we’re in cahoots.  Don’t worry, we aren’t, but we definitely visit each other’s blogs daily.

Mahalo!

Perhaps you should add a disclosures box to your post ;)

Although for contests on blogs specifically - aren't comments on blogs a way that people form relationships? I would expect that the winning comment would come from a friend.

Most of my comments come from the same 10 people. Most of my twitter convos, out of my followers, come from perhaps 2-10% of all the followers =P

LOL! If we were going to do something shady and compromise our integrity, I hope it would be for prizes of a bit more substance or for fame a bit more lasting!

I wasn't at all surprised when you won. A political junkie (my mate) came up with the idea, so it figures it would take a political junkie to solve it. Next Monday's offering won't take any special knowledge -- in fact, I'm pretty certain the winnr will be whomever types the fastest!

It's the principle of it all. Hey, no one can accuse us of not making proper disclosures. I'll have to talk to OC more next time we meet. Maybe at #pch09? Or the next Tweetup.
