What is the time of Capsun’s birth, Alex?

Yes, that was a reference to Jeopardy!, my favorite game show.  Don’t you know how much of a nerd I am?

Let’s get down to the contest, because I know that’s why everyone came to visit today. From the title of this post, you can tell that the correct answer to my question from Saturday is 5:53 p.m. The guesses were all over the place, but I did enjoy reading some of the logic behind some of the answers.  Interestingly, this was a harder question that I originally thought.  My own dad couldn’t remember.  He guessed sometime in the morning and even recounted the whole story from when my mom’s water broke.  I dutifully informed him that the birth certificate indicated otherwise.

So who is the winner? Commenter #8, @macratlove, who blogs over at http://sophielynette.wordpress.com/ wins for this submission:  Happy Birthday. Everyone is always wanting me to try out the moleskins, so I’m going to guess 6:27pm. I remembered this about her as she mentioned it when I met her for the first time at the Honolulu Twestival.  @macratlove was 34 minutes off from the correct answer. Of course, I’d point out that it’s Moleskine, pronounced “mole-a-SKEEN-a” – read this for more details on that.

Congratulations, @macratlove! For her efforts, she wins a Moleskine Volant and Moleskine Cahier.  I know I said the winner would only get one of them, but I feel like being generous, especially since @macratlove is likely to love Moleskine as much as I do.  She also wins a congratulatory ad on Chang Ads, but in my haste to inform her last night, I forgot to submit my ad to Mr. Chang.  You can check there for it, or wait for me to Tweet it.

Anyone who followed my last contest knows that I like multiple winners.  So the next “winner” I want to announce is Commenter #23, Aprilkins, who said,  I will say 12:30am… She was 17 hours, 23 minutes off! Far and away the one furthest from the correct answer.  For her effort and putting up with my teasing, she gets a Moleskine Cahier, too.

They say things like this come in threes, so the last prize of a Moleskine Cahier goes to Commenter #10, Damon, for this:  Old FUT! Happy Birthday! http://tinyurl.com/b4mdjn. As a blogger, I have to admit that a whole blog entry wishing me a Happy Birthday is a pretty good way to help win a prize during a contest.  Thanks for that recognition, Damon.

Finally, here are some other answers that I thought were entertaining:

  • Commenter #1, Quilly: Oh! Oh! 11:59 p.m. Can I just guess every single minute of every single day so I will be certain to win? Nice try, Quilly, but I don’t think so.
  • Commenter #4, Dave:  Well, I was tempted to choose 10:10 a.m. but figured that might be too obvious so decided instead to go with 2:40 p.m., in honor of the fact that it’s one chance out of 1,440 (the number of minutes in the day). Actually, it would be like me to do something like that, hiding the answer in plain sight.  This time, I wanted to have no clues at all, so that there was no skill other than taking a stab at a guess.  Maybe next time…
Hope you all had as much fun playing as I did reading the guesses.  It helped make for a fun birthday.

Mahalo!

haha! Very creative! Hope you had a good birthday with lots & lots of cake.

Congrats to the winners!

Hi honey,
I was planning on entering my guess (6:00 pm) as we were discussing the topic with your dad at lunch, but then realized I may never see a dent in your massive Moleskine collection! Congrats to the winners! :)
always,
Earth

i put that time thinking you would be born right around the stroke of midnight. It was either 12:30 am or 11:50 pm...darn! thanks caps! i did buy that type of notebook at barnes and noble but never got to us it. Someone stole mine! sheesh!

Congrats to the winners!

And now we know that Capsun is in to mental torture.

Oh yay! I think this is the first prize I've ever won on a blog contest, and so fitting that it's the moleskines. Looking forward to receiving them!

And they said that Bloggers couldn't get paid!!! WHOO HOO!!! I knew if I blogged about the right things, I'd start banking soon enough!

I was thinking all day that my "Bonehead" answer of 4:20 was the winner all day because I didn't get a chance to read your blog until now and only read my email earlier confirming my address.

So goes my theory of using that number when you can't think of anything else!

Thanks again and heres my answer for next year. 5:53 PM!

(Am I first?)

Wouldn't you know, someone named April who celebrates her birthday in May would win with the furthest from correct answer.... =P
