Grand Re-Opening of the Makiki Library
Mar 24th, 2009 by Capsun
You know I support and take a special interest in our libraries, right? So I was more than happy to help when a former co-worker of mine, Norma, recently got me involved with helping the Makiki Community Learning Center, the new name for the Makiki Library that also includes the Frank F. Fasi Citizen Resource Center. I’ll be writing later about a Rediscover Makiki event coming up this summer.
But now, it’s a time for celebration as the MCLC gears up for it’s grand re-opening tomorrow. Even if you’ve never visited the Library before, we would love to have you join us for this special event. And I’m sure if you do, you’ll come to value the MCLC as a vital community resource as much as the Makiki residents who patron it.

Dedication & Opening of the Frank F. Fasi Citizen Resource Center
(Mezzanine Level)
Gary Kubota has a nice article in today’s Bulletin with the “riches-to-rags-to-riches” story of the Library. Former Mayor Frank Fasi is honored with the name of the Citizen Resource Center because he was one of the Library’s earliest and strongest supporters.
You can visit this site for information on the MCLC and Hui o Makiki, a community group trying to create and maintain a vibrant Makiki. Of course, if you can’t make it, you’re more than welcome to read about it in the newspaper that the Library has available!
Mahalo!

Hope it’s a great opening. I will be flying back from the mainland and if it wasn’t that I’d be working *sigh* Why can’t I win the megabucks here in Nevada LOL Have a great time
