The Wedding Cake Choice

April 11, 2009 · 4 comments

You might remember that back in January, I asked you readers to Help Choose My Wedding Cake.  I should apologize for taking so long to provide an update after so many readers, old and new, commented to help me choose.

It dawned on me shortly after writing that post that my dear fiancee had already sorted them in her order of preference.  I should have realized that #1, with it’s long description and the use of  “pretty” were indications that was her favorite.  Perhaps in an exercise of negotiation and sheer wearing the other party down, we’ve decided on the two finalists:

  • 1.  Pretty ivory frosting with fancy blue swirly designs and pearl dots.

The stunning four-tiered ivory wedding cake was decorated with a light blue pattern that matched the lace on Courtney

  • 3.  White frosting with blue flowers.

Four tiers of alternating chocolate cake with raspberry filling, and white torte cake with strawberries and white chocolate mousse. The outside was accented with edible hydrangeas.

From here, we will leave it up to fate. I (er, “we”)  have the fortune of having an aunt/aunty/auntie (whichever you use) who will make and bake our wedding cake for us, in addition to all of the desserts for the reception.  So we will be sending her these pictures for her to consider.  She will then tell us which one she can do.  It’s great to have a large and loving family willing to help out when one member has a happy occasion like a wedding, or even for a sad occasion like a funeral.

So, we leave the destiny of our cake to fate – except for the inside, which will be yellow, thank you very much.

Mahalo!

I like the simple #2 with real orchids circling each level.

Thom: Not to worry, I'm glad people are able to share their opinions, even when (or especially when) they disagree with me.

Quilly: You know I did it *just* for you. LOL.

I see you've narrowed things down to my two favorites. I still think #1 is the classiest, but two is the easiest one to make. Whichever you choose, it will be eaten and tummies just don't care what their food looked like cuz once they get it it'a all chewed up and gross anyway. ;)

I do remember that post as it was right about the time I started following your blog. I went a re-read what I said and I realize I was pretty hard on you for not knowing you. OOPS!! Sincerest apologies for that but I sort of still stand by what I said. And at the very end YEAH I picked No. 1. Funny thing with this Capsun, while I was in Nevada my mom was watching this cooking show and it was about these brides that got with professional bakers and they had a contest to see who in 2 hours or was it 4 hours could make the cake that the bride wanted for her wedding. The cake that one looked a lot like your first choice...It was a real beauty just like your picture. Happy Easter to all of you.
