Props and Slops: April 13-19

April 20, 2009 · 3 comments

Note:  My fellow blogger, Thom, does a feature on his blog called Friday’s Fave Five.  I think of it as my Props and Slops without any Slops.  I was inspired by this, so,I thought I’d give it a try.  Today you will see a Props-only Props and Slops!

IN MEMORIAM

HAWAII

GEEK/TECH/BLOG

  • PropsAshton Kutcher (@aplusk) for reaching the 1 million followers mark on Twitter. This definitely raised the public awareness of Twitter (@Twitter).  Now, we just have to get everyone who isn’t on yet to join.  So, if you’re reading this and haven’t joined Twitter yet, please do.  Oh, and follow me (I’m @exbor) – just mention this post and I’ll follow you back.

POLITICS/GOVERNMENT

  • PropsSame-sex marriage advocates.  First, for New York Gov. David Paterson for proposing legalization of same-sex marriage in his state.  Second, for Steve Schmidt urging Republicans to support same-sex marriage. This is valuable because Schmidt served as Sen. John McCain’s campaign manager in the 2008 race for the White House.
    • Honorable MentionComedian Al Franken, for getting one step closer to being declared the winner in his hotly-contested Senate race. Additional challenges are likely, so I’ll wait to call him “Sen. Franken” until he is seated in the U. S. Senate.

PROP AND SLOP OF THE WEEK

  • Prop of the WeekHawaiian Airlines, and more specifically it’s Kona Airport crew, for not only waiting for me to board the plane (I was running late and held up in the security line), but even better, STILL making its scheduled departure time. That’s why they’re America’s #1 on-time airline.  So if you’ve ever flown on Mesa Air Group’s go! Airlines, why not switch to Hawaiian or Mokulele?

That’s it for this week.  Be sure to visit next week for another edition of Props and Slops, my favorite feature on Capsun’s Corner.

Mahalo!

Quilly so agree with you...for a change. Your blog becomes so personal and the friendships seem to be deeper for some reason. Boy I gotta quit this ranting about Twitter or Capsun is going to kick my butt LOL. As long as he enjoys it however, that's really all that matters

About Twitter -- it served me no purpose. It seems like a popularity contest to me, "I have more followers than you! Neneer, neneer, neneer!" Maybe I am just too old to appreciate what it's all about, but -- do you really care what all those strangers have to say and where they are right now?

Thanks for the props Capsun. Much appreciated. Let's hear it for Hawaiian Airlines...go! GO HOME...LOL. Poor Les Keiter...rest in peace. You were the bomb. Congrats to KGMB.

Now for the downside Capsun...Ashton Kutcher and CNN. I thought it bunk and that's exactly why I left twitter. You tell me how someone can keep up with 1 million followers. If they can I'd sure like to know how. It's a damn popularity contest and that's about it. Then I see Oprah getting into this and how many did she get right off the bat. I dunno...and maybe it's just me, but if people would use Twitter as it is intended I think it would be great. You and a couple of others I remember weren't into the numbers and that's what I liked but this is utter craziness.
