Capsun’s (Sick) Status Update

May 15, 2009 · 8 comments

Aloha and thank you for checking Capsun’s system status hotline.

System status update for Friday, May 15:

We are experiencing an interruption with good health, proper temperature, lack of headaches, lack of body aches, and energy on Capsun.  Medical personnel, legal prescription medications, and a loving fiancee are working on restoring services as quickly as possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.  Mahalo.

If that message doesn’t sound familiar, you’ve never called the Oceanic system status hotline at 808-625-8282.  Yep, I stole the script from them.  But before you scold me, please cut me some slack.  I was very ill this week.  For future reference, if you feel sick on Monday, don’t go in to work.  I honestly think that half day of work I put in made things even worse and drew it out longer than it had to.  Most importantly, I don’t have H1N1 flu (Swine Flu). I do have an infection that has many of the symptoms of flu, but I’ll spare you all the gory details.

You’ve probably noticed something was up with me – interestingly, by not noticing me on social media outlets.  I’ve only sent 5 Tweets so far this week and I don’t know if I’ll feel up to sending more today.

It’s not been a good week for me. On Monday, I had the double whammy of getting this infetion out of nowhere.  And then that same day, my grandmother passed away.  I haven’t had time to make a photo blog entry for her yet, but soon.  Then I couldn’t get into my doctor until Thursday, which was a little too late to take medications that would have sped up recovery.  And then, I think I lost my iPhone!!!  I’m not sure if it was on the bus ride home after the doctor or if in my delirious state I just put it somewhere.  The iPhone was the best tool while I’ve been sick.  It allowed me to literally lie in one place and call people to help me by bringing water or whatever else I might have needed.  On the plus side, I’ve been too sick and bothered to really mind most of the bad news.

But I feel like I’m well on my way to recovery.  I finally ate a meal last night, beyond just a few scoops of soup.  Hey, I’m well enough to post today.  And I think my sense of humor is coming out, so that’s another good sign.

Special note to my co-workers:  My doctor advised me to stay home until Monday so as not to share the germs with any of you.  I’ll see you on Tuesday.

Now, can anyone help me find my iPhone 3G?  It’s black and has a crack in the upper right corner of the screen.  You really don’t want it, but it has some new photos that I didn’t sync yet.

Swine Flu? Just teasing bro..

Dude... this flu season has been hitting the best of us.

I myself have always proclaimed that I don't get sick that much.

This year alone I have probably been more sick in the amount of days then the last 10 years alone.

Hope your feeling better soon.

I am very sorry for your bereavement. Grandparents are special and I know you will miss your grandmother very much.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope your iPhone comes home, and if you take Thom's health advice, do not mix the chicken soup and the 7-Up in the same container!

Get well, my friend!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. As you are aware mine just passed away in March and it just feels so different now with her and my Grandfather both gone. But I know that they are in a better place and I know that they are still watching over our entire family with loving eyes and thoughs. My heart goes out to you Capsun and I will keep you more in my thoughts.

I so hope you are getting better. Lesson well learned my friend, call a doctor on the onset of something like this. I know that's easier said than done and rarely do we do that but I believe they do know what is best and can prescribe the best medicine possibly. Oh and an old family health secret: Chicken Noodle Soup and 7-Up LOL.

Really enjoyed your status information line. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your phone and sorry I couldn't have been more help yesterday to you with it. Offer still stands with the 2G. I know that's no consolation but it does. I do hope that someone is honest enough to turn it in or that maybe you might stumble across it soon.

Get better soon and my best thoughts to you and your entire family with your Grandmother's passing.

capsun:

Capnaz! I'm glad you're feeling better, being sick here is the worst! You cant snuggle up in a blanket in front of the fireplace w/ cocoa in 80 degree weather...

And my heart goes out to you on the passing of your Grandmother, my prayers are with you.

Hugs,
Biz

Oh what a very unfortunate week for you! But in some ways. it's good to get it all over with at one time - although not your grandmother's passing - my condolenses on that :(
and your phone! your lifeline! fingers crossed on that one.
the week that my husband's mother passed away, I came down with the worst flu I've ever had, and my daughter (4 at the time) got a neck injury and had to be in traction. Bob flew out for the funeral and my mother ended up caring for me and my children the entire time.

Oh Capsun! I'm so sorry to hear about your week! I've been worried, what with the lack of tweeting and then the tweets that you did manage to send . . . okay well you take care and get rest and heal up. And if I see your iPhone I'll confiscate it. *big hug (well, if you like that sort of thing. If you don't want my hug you don't have to take it.) see you next week. =)
