Honeymoon in…Washington, DC

Yes, you read that correctly.  The Mrs. and I decided to go to Washington, DC for our honeymoon.  So, as you read this, we’re probably over the skies above or near the Eastern Seaboard.

For those of you who know I’m a political junkie, you’re probably thinking that I must have won that argument.  Well, I’m happy to report that Mrs. Poe was more than happy to consent.  This will be her second visit, but her first “real one” as her first time was just for a few hours.  Her only condition was that we get tickets to visit the White House!

Thanks to Congressman Neil Abercrombie and his staff for arranging tours of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the U. S. Capitol, the U. S. Supreme Court, and Library of Congress. And mahalo nui loa to Julie of his staff for arranging that White House tour, as directed by Mrs. Poe.

This is not my first trip to D.C., and I was just there in October, but still, it will be nice to be a tourist for the entire trip and have no actual work business to take care of.  We’ll also squeeze in some tours, visit monuments, and hopefully make it to Mount Vernon (George Washington’s home and somewhere I haven’t been).

And hopefully, I’ll be able to share it with you, either via my Twitter (@exbor), my photo blog, or my new YouTube account (whose power is unleashed with my new iPhone 3G S).

Speaking of sharing, if you haven’t done so already, you should get yourself the beautiful computer wallpaper that PBS Hawaii has available as a free download. I’ll think of it when we’re watching A Capitol Fourth live and in-person on the west lawn of the U. S. Capitol.

Mahalo!

Great timing! Independence Day in D.C. We spent 10 days in D.C. last September and thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Capitol and the White House courtesy of Sen. Abercrombie's office. The highlight of our trip was experiencing the Lincoln Memorial at night. It was spectacular!

I hope both you have a wonderful time in Washington D.C.

You lucky guys. How great to be back there especially for the 4th of July. That is just awesome. Have a great time, be safe, and take plenty of pictures and videos. Spread that Hawaiian Aloha while you are there :)
