Aloha, Grandpa John

Grandma and Grandpa
The last few months have not been good for our family, at least as far as deaths go. In April, we lost my great uncle, Uncle Dickie. In May, we lost my Grandma Sophie. And in July, we lost Grandpa John, shown here in a photo with Grandma Sophie. So I find myself going back home to Kona for the third funeral since late April.
It’s a good thing we had our wedding to give our family a happier reason to get together.
I think some of my cousins are trying to get us together to sing at Grandpa John’s funeral. I think one of the most fitting songs would be Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days) by The Judds.
I’m not sure what else to say here…except, you should take every opportunity to talk to your loved ones, your kupuna, and others in your life. Ask them about how things were when they were younger, how things have changed, or even what advice they give to future generations. You never know when it might be your last opportunity to ask.
Mahalo!

P.P.S. – Did you know capsun.org has it’s own Twitter account (@capsundotorg) that Tweets whenever I blog here or on my photo blog?

I’m sorry to hear about your Grandpa my friend. May he rest in peace and my best to you and your family. What a wonderful photo
And yes, your wedding is a bright spot for your family and it will only keep getting brighter. Aloha
My heart and prayers go out to you and your family as you mourn. Be comforted in knowing that the people you love are always a part of you and as such, they never really leave.
