Update, 10:05 am: Forgot to mention that you can follow what others are saying on Twitter by tracking the #PCC and #HaShow hashtags.
Last week, I got an unsolicited (but much appreciated) offer from someone affiliated with the Polynesian Cultural Center, or PCC. They are holding a Social Media Night this evening and they invited their social media friends to join them for their signature luau and to view their new show HA: Breath of Life. The best part? They’re offering us a backstage tour of the show – and will let us take cameras and all the electronic equipment most places have you turn off.
The offer is a fortuitous one as my wife and I had discussed seeing HA: Breath of Life, but had yet to make time to check it out. I had no prior commitments, so we had a green light for tonight. And I am going to share it with all of you. Of course, I’ll be Tweeting (@exbor or http://twitter.com/exbor) and posting TwitPics (http://twitpic.com/photos/exbor). If I can get a particularly good shot, I’ll throw that on my photo blog (http://capsunpoe.blogspot.com). And I’ll even try to post a YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/capsunpoe). I hope to have a future post here on Capsun’s Corner.
I’ve been pretty excited about visiting PCC and the show all week. Until last night, when I remembered Dave Shapiro’s post on the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s social media junket. But here’s what I think. I don’t think this is taking a kickback or payola. And hey, I’m pretty honest when I don’t like something – just read any of my posts on go! Airlines (start here). I do write about all sorts of things Hawaii-related and this will give you, my readers, a chance to see more than just politics and tech on Capsun’s Corner.
In our current economic situation, I’m happy to help support our tourism industry. And I’ve told people to support our local economy before. Several of my family members work with Firenesia at the foreclosed Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, so I know how important it is to support these places or they will close and make our economic situation worse. Also note that I’ve paid for visits to PCC and many other tourist venues before.
Finally, my tag line does say “A regular dose of my take on things…”
Mahalo!

P.P.S. – Did you know capsun.org has it’s own Twitter account (@capsundotorg) that Tweets whenever I blog here or on my photo blog?
