A Glee-Gowalla Mash-Up
Dec 8th, 2009 by Capsun
Sometimes, I think I get a little too serious, especially here on capsun.org, although I do tend to allow myself to be a little more casual on my photo blog. But today will be a “for fun” post, and it’s dedicated to Melissa Chang (aka @Melissa808) who has waited over two weeks for me to post photos that she took at my first time at The Little Oven (@liloven) and also had the idea for me to pose for these.
First, some definitions. Glee refers to the hit new show on Fox. Gowalla refers to the social media service that blends Twitter and geocaching that Ryan Ozawa covered extensively. And a mash-up is, “a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another.” I like all three, so let the games begin.
Below is an official-looking Glee photo, of Cory Monteith, who plays Finn:

I really like the take that local Honolulu Tweep Marc Orbito (@marcorbito) took on his Glee-inspired photo, especially the eyes looking upward:

So, with a little encouragement from Melissa, I posed for these photos, a mash-up of the Glee and Marc versions:

But the laughs at my expense weren’t over! Someone pointed out that there are two “L”s in Gowalla, so I had to try to make two in my pose, which @MadMarv took. This photo was much harder to pose for than you might think (if you look good, I’m wearing less of a smile and more of a grimace):

This is probably the most fun I’ll have here on capsun.org, so I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks to Melissa and Kyle for making my first time at The Little Oven a memorable one! By the way, if you’d like to join in on some of the fun, Glee is available on Hulu or iTunes, Gowalla is free to use, and you should follow @liloven on Twitter to find out when they’re open.
Now I’m off to ponder something serious.
Mahalo!

P.P.S – Did you know capsun.org has it’s own Twitter account (@capsundotorg) that Tweets whenever I blog here or on my photo blog?

All over the blogosphere you have people holding up both of their hands to make two Ls. I’ll have you know I can do it quite comfortably.
